TV Rewatch: Roswell!!

Since I first revealed that my mom and I have decided that going small when it came to living space was the thing for us, we’ve been making changes to our current lifestyle and one of those changes is to stop buying dvds.

We’re HUGE movie/tv show watchers and since we don’t have access to a high speed internet, things like Netflix are out of the question. We have slowly started to replace our dvds with digital copies, we buy them from Amazon for our kindles with the hope that one day we’ll have a high speed internet in our small home.

Anyway, I’ve bought a few things that I previously couldn’t afford in dvd format, one of those being the entire series of Roswell. Who could forget that theme song right? Dido’s haunting voice and the lyrics were perfect for a teen show about aliens.

Review: Ready to Run by Lauren Layne

Who would have thought a romance built around a reality dating show would work for me?

Format: .mobi (A copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley for the purpose of an honest review. )
Publisher: Loveswept
Release Date: August 22, 2017

The Bachelor meets The Runaway Bride in this addictive romance novel about a reality TV producer falling for her would-be star: a Montana heartthrob who wants nothing to do with the show.

Jordan Carpenter thinks she’s finally found the perfect candidate for Jilted, a new dating show about runaway grooms: Luke Elliott, a playboy firefighter who’s left not one but three brides at the altar. The only problem? Luke refuses to answer Jordan’s emails or return her calls. Which is how she ends up on a flight to Montana to recruit him in person. It’s not Manhattan but at least the locals in Lucky Hollow seem friendly . . . except for Luke, who’s more intense—and way hotter—than the slick womanizer Jordan expected.

Eager to put the past behind him, Luke has zero intention of following this gorgeous, fast-talking city girl back to New York. But before he can send her packing, Jordan’s everywhere: at his favorite bar, the county fair, even his exes’ book club. Annoyingly, everyone in Lucky Hollow seems to like her—and deep down, she’s starting to grow on him too. But the more he fights her constant pestering, the more Luke finds himself wishing that Jordan would kick off her high heels and make herself comfortable in his arms.

Blitz: When the Scoundrel Sins by Anna Harrington (Review + Giveaway)

Quinn was such a charmer but Annabelle sure gave him a run for his money.

About Anna Harrington:

Anna Harrington fell in love with historical romances--and all those dashing Regency heroes--while living in London, where she studied literature and theatre. She loves to travel, fly airplanes, and hike, and when she isn't busy writing her next novel, she loves fussing over her roses in her garden.

How About That Finale?

This Sunday was the finale of season 7 of Game of Thrones and it was the most watched episode ever. Not surprising, it was an epic buildup for what will be the final season of the hit tv show.

I am a die hard fan of the show. I have the books and am reading them and yes they ARE better as is almost always the case BUT the show is visually stunning and the cast is so amazing that you can almost forgive them for taking liberties with the plot. That said, I have a few observations/questions and one or two gripes about the finale.

If you haven’t watched the finale, The Dragon and the Wolf now is a good time to exit this post and enjoy something else on the blog. Because The Post is Dark and Full of Spoilers (Game of Thrones humor sorry).

Anyway,

An Open Letter to Hayley

Dearest Hayley,

Today marks your one year adoptaversary. How fast time flies. I still remember the day we met you like it was yesterday.

Mom and I were still grieving for Mr. Pud because it had only been three days since we lost him but I knew that I couldn’t go back to the house without a dog. We already knew about you because your foster dad had told mom about you months before. We knew that you needed a home so a year ago we left the hotel and went to meet you.

A Year and Still Just Coping.

Today marks a year since I lost Mr. Pud and while I can say that it went by fast, I can also say that every friggin’ day of that year was painful.

Mr. Pud for those of you who don’t know, was my faithful companion for ten short years. We found him as an 11 month old pup in our old neighborhood and he broke our hearts because he desperately wanted to come into the house and be a part of a family. We tried to find him a home but no one wanted a “big dog” and even though we had three dogs already, we took him in.

Review: Addicted to the Duke by Bronwen Evans

This one frustrated me a little because it had such potential for a darker themed romance but it just didn't quite get there!

Publisher: Loveswept
Release Date:

Alexander Sylvester Bracken, Duke of Bedford, has a mission: sail to the Mediterranean and track down Lady Hestia Cary’s missing father. After all, Alex has sworn to leave her untouched, and he intends to honor that vow—until he can properly ask the Earl’s blessing.

Ever since His Grace rescued Hestia from the arms of a Turkish pirate six long years ago, her heart has belonged to Alex. So when he agrees to help find her father, Hestia is thrilled. But with scoundrels lying in wait, she may not live to tell the tale of her conquest.

Adria Picks: Ten Movies I Have to Watch by the End of the Year

This edition of Adria Picks is going to be an ongoing and NEW one because I recently discovered the joys of renting and buying movies/tv shows on my Kindle and it. Is. Glorious! Here’s why though:

Going to the theater is expensive as hell so I reserve my pennies for a movie I would sell my relatives to see. Fortunately there aren’t that many movies that fall under that category.

Influenster Review + Recipe: Daisy Squeezable Sour Cream

As part of the Influenster program, I get to review pretty neat stuff here and there. The latest box, the Playa Voxbox had the squeezable * Daisy Sour Cream in it.

Now, I’ve been a longtime fan of Daisy sour cream so I already knew I was going to like it, but I’d never tried the squeezable one before. I tried it on a familiar favorites to see how it measured up.

Green Onion Dip with Fritos!!

It’s really simple but one of my favorites. You’ll need:

  • Sour Cream (Daisy has a better flavor in my opinion, I’ve tried others and it just didn’t work for me).
  • Powdered Green Onion Dip
  • Kosher Salt
  • Lightly Salted Fritos (I did this one with regular Fritos and learned my lesson.)
  • Small Bowl
  • Fork

Waiting on Wednesday: Two upcoming releases!

I’ve read both guys and I can’t wait for you all to read them! Lauren Layne’s book makes reality dating shows look like the perfect setting for a real romance, and I’ve been in love with Sarah Robinson’s Kavanagh series since the very first book! They’re a wonderful family with a lot of personality and love to go around.

I'm Back!

Hey everyone! I’m back! How has everyone been for the past two-ish months or so? Well my vacation wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows and I wanted to talk about that before I let you know what’s new with the blog for the foreseeable future.

If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you’ll have heard that on July 2 we lost our cat Amelia. I had written about how she had developed a severe infection and had lost a lot of weight a few months ago. The vet did blood tests among others and could find no cause for it so he thought it might be a food sensitivity issue so she was put on a prescription diet. We thought she was getting better because she became a bit more animated and had gained about half a pound. Sadly she took a turn for the worse and within 24 hours she had passed away in the vet’s arms.

Reading Challenges Check In

I’m a little late with this but I decided to do my check-in for my reading challenges. All I have to say is that if I knew then what I know now I would have chosen Historical Romance for the Pick Your Genre Challenge because I can’t seem to read much else!! Sheesh!

Goal Set in January: 45
Actual Books Read: 23
I’m not doing so bad with this one, there have been a lot of new-to-me authors and books that I’ve had the chance to try and quite a few more on my list. Most were hits, a few were misses but overall, this one has been the most fun.
